Week 03 – Pray in Faith

For this week, we will understand what it means by ‘praying in faith’.  The memory verse for the week –

John 15: 7 – If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

It makes perfect sense, isn’t it.  It is reasonable to state categorically – that as long as I am close to God, and heed God’s word in my life, my prayer and request will assuredly be in line with God’s will for my life.  God will answer my prayer as it is within His will.  It is just impossible in that state, that I should be asking anything for selfish reasons.

Reflections -

How do I pray in faith?

I experience such situations many times in my life -

I pray, but before God could answer me, I move ahead and do what I feel best before God signals His approval…

I pray, but I continue to worry myself sick over the state of affair I’m in…

I pray, but does not want to wait for God to reveal and signal my next move….

Praying in faith requires that I rest my full trust in God’s hand in all aspect of my life.  Easier said than done, but I personally believe it’s a lifelong cultivation.  Praying in faith is a lifelong process.  it’s not an overnight thing when you can suddenly wake up from bed one day and say, “Yes, I now have full faith in my prayer!”

Luke 10: 26 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength”.  This is the essence of my love for God – if I love Him with ALL my heart, soul, mind and strength, I develop a ready and teachable heart and mind.  When that happens, He will be able to guide and lead me, and show me the path I am to take.  Naturally then, my prayers will be grounded in faith because I am now close to Him.
