Week 04 – Fellowship with believers
I enter Week 04 with the third pillar of a Christian life. The first two pillars that I learned were prayer and reading God’s word. Now, God helps me maintain my closeness with Him also through fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
God has every good reasons that I need to have close fellowship with fellow Christians. First, it marks me out as a God’s disciple (John 13: 34, 35). Second, we are accountable for fellow brothers and sisters (1 Corinthians 12: 12 – 31) – the scripture passage speaks very precisely that we are dependent and therefore accountable for each other’s well being. Third, help fellow Christian brothers and sisters who are hurt, physically or emotionally (1 Corinthians 112: 12 – 31) – again the passage speaks clearly that when one hurt is hurt, the rest feel it, and should then come together to share the hurt and pray for him or her.
In the spirit of fellowship, our show of love and sacrifice for one another stand out. At the same time, God reminds us that slander and deceit should not stand in the way of our fellowship. Very clearly then, we should in no way be back-biting fellow brothers and sisters even if we are hurt by them or are angry towards them over some unfair or unjust treatment.
